Silverlake Formal Session | Chad + Whitney | Utah Wedding Photographer

Carli + Beau Formals/Bridals

Today is looking to be a great day!! We have some fun sessions on the schedule to show you all this week and this one is nothing short of amazing!

We LOVE all of the new ways that couples are throwing out older wedding traditions, and just doing what they want! Its so fun to witness these couples, marching to their own drum and doing what is important to them rather than what the norm is. Chad + Whitney decided to do a First Look/Formal session a few weeks prior to their wedding. It was during this session that we got to get out in beautiful locations and really capture some amazing portraits for these two.

We started our session at Silverlake up Big Cottonwood Canyon, near Brighton Ski Resort in Utah. It was October, but there was already some snow fall in the area, and I will be honest it was pretty chilly up there! haha – But these two didn’t let it phase them, they completely ROCKED their session and we loved every single second of it. If you’ve ever photographed in Utah at a popular location, especially in the fall you know that there are about 20 other photographers at all times. Luckily we were able work around the other sessions going on, and got some great wide shots with the beautiful landscape.

After shooting at the lake, we decided to head down the mountain to capture some of the last little bit of light. We pulled off to another popular photo spot, and there were photographers in every single direction! It was insane, haha- and at that point in time the sun had dipped behind the mountain at this location, so I asked Chad + Whitney if they would just trust us to keep driving down the mountain, and when we saw the light that we wanted we would just pull over and shoot there. I am so glad that these two were always so willing to go along with our crazy ideas, because just down the road we slammed on our brakes, pulled off into a little turnout and had these two just stand off the side of the road where we got the most beautiful light!! Mix that with the golden fall colors, and I am SO glad we decided to forgo the other popular spot and get what we did!

These two are genuine, kind people with hearts of gold. And they are SOOO funny! We laughed and laughed with them till our stomachs were sore and our cheeks hurt. They are so full of light and adventure that just being around them makes you want to get out in life and accomplish some goals, or check things off your bucket list! We can’t wait to share more with you from their wedding day so stay tuned!
